CB2 Collaboration

CB2 takes pride in its partnership with artists around the world, creating styles that are curated to creatives just like you. Our goal was to drive more traffic to the CB2’S Collaboration page, for customers to find inspiration, shop collaborators of the month, and select new styles. In this case, study working with my group through each part gave all of us a better understanding of what we were focusing on.

Goal

To drive more traffic to CB2’s Collaborations page.

Research

QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

  • What resources do you use to shop for furniture?

  • How often do you shop for furniture?

  • What is your main motivation when deciding on a piece of furniture to purchase?

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

  • What steps do you take when it comes to designing a room?

  • How would you describe your preferred style of furniture?

  • How often do you switch out furniture? Why?

To our surprise, Google search was one of the most popular resources compared to social media & e-commerce platforms where consumers are currently shopping for their furniture. After crunching the numbers our data showed that 80% of our survey participants purchase furniture at an average of 1-2 times a year and usually based on need. Users take thorough steps when it comes to planning: sketching with measurements, determining long-term goals & themes, and assessing space for accurate fit.

User Interviews

TO GET A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF THE RELATIONSHIP USERS HAVE WITH FURNITURE
SHOPPING, WE CONDUCTED 6 INTERVIEWS ASKING THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

1. What role does furniture play in your home?
2. What room do you redesign the most? Could you walk me through that process?
3. What’s your thought process when it comes to finalizing your cart at checkout? What changes that process when you’re in the store?

Affinity Mapping

Persona Lucas

Through our research, we determined to create Lucas Romero. New York was the ideal place because we wanted to show the situation that he would be in a less than optimum space. Having to work at home but wanting to make his furniture and style more like himself.

Storyboard

Problem Statement

Lucas's line of work has always allowed him to work from the comfort of his home. He wants to elevate his home & office space with functional, unique pieces in order to feel inspired and productive.

How might we..

...help Lucas discover unique pieces of furniture that make his home space
reflect his personality?
...ensure that Lucas is finding the right fit when selecting pieces for his home
so that he can avoid the trial & error process?
...bridge the gap between Lucas and creative professionals who share a
common love for thoughtful design?

Organized Data

WE DECLARED OUR TOP 4 MINIMUM VIABLE PRODUCTS BASED ON ANALYZING WHAT USERS EXPRESSED THEIR NEED FOR WHEN FURNITURE SHOPPING.

1. COLLABORATION PAIRING GUIDE QUIZ
2. AR COLLABORATION HOMEVIEW EXPERIENCE
3. INTERACTIVE DESIGNER PROFILES
4. DESIGN WORKSHOP VIDEO FEATURES

HMMM...Oh Yeah!

Consumers do not want another e-commerce site; they are craving an experience.

In our competitive analysis, we focused on bigger chains like Ikea or places like Amazon, which deal with more traffic than CB2. I investigated clothing sites because they also help envision people wearing the clothes. As with furniture envisions what it will be like in their home.
